Plant-Based, Raw Food Recipe Series- Cacao & Date Energy Balls

Last weekend we spent an amazing time away on our Ground and Restore Yoga & Wellbeing Retreat in North Devon. Not only was our retreat about movement and deepening your yoga practice in a supportive community of like minded people, but also giving our lovely retreaters the opportunity to learn about different self care techniques and wellbeing and how they could invite these into their day to day lives.


One of the ways we invited self care into our yoga and wellbeing retreat was to host a Raw Food Workshop! Mmmmm, super yummy time! We learned how to make lots of delicious raw food treats (which we got to eat throughout the rest of the weekend! Best Part!!) and we thought as we loved these healthy, plant-based recipes soooo much that we would share with you the first in our series of nutritious, easy to make, plant-based snacks and meals.


First coming up...... Cacao & Date Energy Balls


Ingredients (will make around 15 Raw Energy Balls)


Energy Balls


1-2tbsp Cacao Powder (depending on taste preferences)

100g Cashew Nuts

100g Almond Nuts

100g Chia/Flax Seed

300g Soaked Pitted Dates & Raisins

2tbsp Desiccated Coconut

1 drop Wild Orange Essential Oil


Optional Toppings


Desiccated Coconut, Cacao Powder, Chopped Nuts of choice


How to Make


1. Place all dry ingredients in a food processor and blitz until chunky mix is created

2. Drain wet mixture and then add to food processor. Mix until sticky dough is formed. If too wet, add more dry, if too dry add 1tbsp Coconut Oil.

3. Roll into balls and cover in whichever topping you would like to mix it up or leave plain and eat up!

4. Refrigerate for up to 2 weeks or freeze for up to 3 months, and take out as and when you feel peckish!


We love this quick and easy recipe to make a super healthy, plant-based snack ready for whenever you need that mid-afternoon pick me up or a snack on the go!


If you want to give this a go and you find the mixture too wet or dry, aim for 50:50 and then add more of what you want to taste. Let us know how you go with the recipe! We would love to see your creations!
