Plant Based, Raw Food Recipe Series - Dreamy Chocolate Avocado Mousse

It wouldn't be called a retreat without adding in a few treats here and there! One of the tastiest desserts that we were able to make and then devour from the Raw Food Workshop on our Ground & Restore Yoga & Wellbeing Retreat in North Devon, UK, was this super dreamy plant-based Chocolate Avocado Mousse. It was SO good I actually ate two (greedy chops) as one person wasn't eating chocolate foods. Which, being the chocolate fanatic that I am, it was one of the biggest scores of the yoga retreat weekend for me! (Lucky me!) Apart from, of course, all our lovely retreaters that came along this October to the incredible long weekend we hosted. (Goes without saying!)



Here is the delicious recipe {salivating as I write this, remembering how delicious it was}. Now from experience, I am always looking for more and more inspiring raw food recipes and healthy plant based meals that I can eat to help keep my meals interesting. I will not lie. When I first heard we were making a Avocado Chocolate Mousse, I was intrigued, as the few times that I have made these, they have either come out too Avocado-ey or too grainy with too much Cacao and I have never been able to find the right balance, so I was so pleasantly surprised when I tried these finished desserts that there was the perfect balance between creamy avocado and rich cacao creating a deep, rich flavoursome Mousse Dessert.



Ingredients (makes around 12 servings)


300g Dates

1 Large Avocado

1 Large Banana

2=3 Tbsp Raw Cacao Powder / 3 Tbsp Chocolate Lover Mix by YourSuper

Optional - 1 Tsp Agave Syrup to taste for more sweetness


Optional Toppings


Berries - we loved, strawberries, blueberries and handpicked blackberries

Coconut Cream or Yoghurt

Crushed Cashew Nuts

Cacao Nibs


How To Make


1. Place all ingredients into a food processor or NutriBullet and whizz away!

2. Adjust sweetness and flavouring for how much sweeter/chocolatey you would like it.

3. Spoon into glass or ramekin and leave in the fridge for 2-3 hours or overnight.

4. Add toppings of your choice once cooled.

We hope you enjoy this recipe as much as we have done and this will be one of our favourites for a long time. Hard to beat a good chocolate recipe, especially one so creamy and dreamy!
